The WSRC

More than
a club.

A place where fitness, friendship, and daily life naturally come together, in the heart of downtown Winnipeg since 1909.

Introduction

An institution, quietly evolved.

The Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club has been part of downtown Winnipeg since 1909. Founded by squash players, the club has grown into something larger: a place where fitness, friendship, and daily life naturally come together.

Some members join for the fitness facilities. Some for squash. Some for the dining room. Some because they are looking for a place to work, or simply to step out of the day. Most stay because the club becomes part of their routine.

A Day at the Club

The day begins early.

Every member uses the club differently. The common thread is that it gives them a place to belong, from the first coffee to the last match.

Before work

The early arrivals

Some members arrive before work for a workout, steam, or shave. They grab a coffee, read the paper, and catch up with familiar faces before heading to the office. Staff greet members by name.

Late morning

The courts come alive

Regular doubles groups take to the squash courts. Some of these games have been played at the same time every week for decades.

Noon

The dining room fills

Members gather around familiar tables. Lunch can be a quick bite or a two-hour conversation that was never supposed to last that long.

Afternoon

A place to recharge

In the quieter hours, the club becomes a place to recharge: to work, to think, or simply to step out of the day for a while.

Evening

Another match, a meal, a chance to unwind

By evening, members return for another match, a meal, an event, or simply a chance to unwind before the day closes.

Why Members Stay

The facilities matter. They are not the reason.

Routines become traditions. Lunch is rarely eaten alone. The same doubles game has run for twenty years. Friendships form through shared mornings, matches, and meals.

Because there is comfort in being known.

A Member's Story

Recently, the club said goodbye to longtime member Jim Mackenzie, whose membership spanned 67 years. His story is exceptional, but not unusual. For many members, what begins as a place to exercise or play squash gradually becomes something far more meaningful.

A Club for Today

A century in, still becoming.

The Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club has spent more than a century adapting to the changing needs of its members while remaining true to its purpose: to provide a place where people can invest in their health, build lasting relationships, enjoy meaningful traditions, and participate in a community that extends beyond the walls of the club itself.

For some, that journey begins with a workout. For others, a lunch invitation. For many, it becomes a place they cannot imagine being without.

An Invitation

Come see what it means to belong.

Membership begins with access. Over time, it becomes part of your life. We'd be glad to show you the club, and to introduce you to the people who make it one.
